What color should I paint my room?

So, here's the story.

I'm going to get a futon in my room, but for now I want a twin bed so I have more space in my room.

I want to paint my room in a design that will still match my horse things. (I love horses and I have a bunch of posters, figures, and things.) So I want a cute design that would still look good with the horses.

I want color! Right now my walls are a butterscotch brown and I'm getting kind of tired of it.

THANKS! Let me know if you need additional info.

:)

Kimiko.
Um, I reeeeeeally don't want light pink. My bed sheets are different all the time. One is white with brown horses, on it beige-ish with all sorts of horses, and everything. But I am either getting a futon or a twin bed, so I won't be able to put those sheets on anyways...

:\ *sigh*

Well Kimiko - it seems almost everyone wants you to do your room in pink.. Except you. And I'd have to agree - to me pink and horses don't really go together.....

You may not like this suggestion either, but I'm thinking green for your walls with a crisp or creamy white trim.

It could be a light and airy green that makes you think of springtime, a bright and summery version, or something more sophisticated and sage-y. (My choice would be the latter, but there are alot of fun greens that are really pretty and special.) If you have a touch of green in your comforter or curtains, try taking a pillow sham to a paint store to get some paint samples, then go home and see how it works in your lighting before you finalize a color.

In fact, one trick is to take the color that is found in the least amount in your fabrics and use that as your wallcolor. That really makes your things pop and makes selecting a wallcolor simple.

When I think of horses, I think of the outdoors and riding for fun and relaxation. So to me green is a very appealing, outdoorsy color that would suit the spirit of your room with the horses theme, and it would also go well with the mood of a futon when you bring that in. Greens are fun, forgiving, versatile, and relaxing or very happy - depending on how muted or how fun the color you select.
